France’s Riots: Reaping the Jacobin Legacy

With shops looted, city streets trashed, buildings burned, and monuments vandalized, headlines declared: “Chaos and Violence Grip France as Far-Left Mobs Storm City Halls, Torch Streets.”

As in the 1968 riots, student grievances were soon taken over and manipulated by a criminaloid far-Left underground motivated by a will-to-destruction rationalized by ideology. Under such situations a society that is already flawed will include a large mass of normally dormant borderline psychotic hangers-on poised to go along with the mob whenever order and authority are challenged.

While the Government assured its citizens that the culprits would be brought to justice, what France was witnessing was a manifestation of the ideology on which the Republic was founded; of Jacobinism, which even most of the French Right acknowledge as the foundation of their nation.

French Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu blames the unrest on the “far-Left” and criminals. But the Republic was founded in 1789 by the “far-Left,” mobilizing and agitating “criminals.” The rioting criminaloids and psychoids are the children of the Republic. France’s National Day celebrates the mob storming of the Bastille (in which very few inmates were held), and the killing of its governor. Both Macron and Marine Le Pen deplored the “attack on democracy.” But it is the manifestation of “democracy;” the atavistic articulation of the same type as 1789.

When Petain assumed authority in 1940 on the vote of the National Assembly by 569 to 80 (with 18 abstentions) he did so with the realisation that it was the doctrine of 1789 that had ruined France. He sought to reverse that Revolution with a National Revolution; to replace “Liberty, Equality, Fraternity,” with “Work, Family, Fatherland.” When France returned to its course of ruin it did so with a bloodlust worthy of the Jacobin heritage.[1]

“No one will impose their political agenda through violence,” Lecornu wrote, but does he repudiate the very foundations of the Republic that the secular Establishment has worshipped, does he deplore the Regicide on which it was founded, and the Reign of Terror on which it was maintained? In Marseilles, smashing into the mayor’s office the mob shouted references to the Bastille.[2] In Paris the shout went up: “Louis XVI: We beheaded him. Macron: We can do it again!”[3]

The national icon is Marianne, the female representation of the Republic adorned in the Jacobin cap, reminiscent of the “Goddess of Reason” that the Jacobins sought to impose as a civic religion. The National Anthem, La Marseillaise, glories in revolutionist blood and war. During the 2024 Olympic Games, France paraded its Jacobin heritage before the world by producing as the Olympic mascot the Phryges, anthropomorphic Phrygian caps. In a symbolic message to reassure the degenerated that France can still be considered the center of the demimonde, despite the resurgence of both the “Right” and of the Church, the Olympic ceremony featured a mockery of the Last Supper, with drag queens, a transgender model, and a semi-clad naked singer painted blue to portray Dionysus, the god of drunken ritual frenzy, reflecting the moral and cultural nihilism of the modern age.

Like their mindless counterparts in the Paris riots of 1968, the mobs of the October riots are not in dissent against the System in which they and their parents were raised—they are the symptoms of it. France reaped what it sowed.

In the eyes of the French public, the most shocking aspect remains the impunity with which rioters were able, for hours on end and across the country, to shamelessly loot thousands of businesses. And anyone who has seen footage of these raids could not help but notice what the vast majority of participants had in common: they are not white. They have no business being in France’s cities, and to anyone with a modicum of common sense, the current chaos would not exist without decades of mass immigration leading to the gradual replacement of the French people.

Yet, in the face of such an existential threat laid bare for all to see, the response from the various political parties is truly disheartening. Of course, the Left-wing parties have offered nothing but excuses for the rioters, legitimizing the violence either as a response to police repression (which they claim is both racist and fascist) or as the cry from the heart of an impoverished youth. It is worth noting in this regard that these desperate young people have been quite selective in their acts of vandalism. To take the example of Lyon: on a street adjacent to Place Bellecour, home to numerous shops, only one was looted—a Zadig & Voltaire, a famous French fashion brand known in particular for its handbags, which are adored by young women (especially those of North African descent). This is a far cry from the food riots of 1788-1789… Moreover, Left-wing parties have no qualms when their protégés take massive advantage of the capitalist system to resell their loot online[14].

The incompetence of the centrist government is staggering. After underestimating the scale of the October 17 protest and deploying an insufficient police force, the regime contented itself with the kind of empty rhetoric it is so adept at. The President of the Republic, who was dancing at a Céline Dion concert on the eve of the riots,[15] solemnly addressed the nation on the evening of Sunday, October 18, in an eight-minute speech devoid of any concrete announcements, before confirming his departure the next day for the Gulf states. Without ever naming the “immigrant threat,” he even went so far as to naively ask, “What is going through these rioters’ minds? How can French people do this to France?”[16] The president warned that the criminal response would be “uncompromising”—a threat all the more meaningless given that it had already been expressed in the same terms in the springs of 2025 and 2026, without the slightest consequence![17] On Monday the 19th, the Prime Minister held an equally pointless press conference, filled with clichés, in a disastrous performance by the government’s A-Team, further marred by the constant ringing of a minister’s phone in the background.[18] At least we saw a few condemnations of the far-Left and delinquents, which stands in stark contrast to the statements made by centrist leaders during previous episodes of chaos, when they were quicker to blame the English[19] or young French hicks named Mathéo or Kevin[20]…

We are no longer in the era of Jean-Marie Le Pen’s National Front. His daughter, Marine, regularly asserts that she is neither Right-wing nor Left-wing. She wants to integrate African immigrants and merely limit entry into the country to some extent, let alone reverse the flow. As Fabian Keubel aptly summarized in a tweet, she is a Left-wing woman committed to the “Africanization” of Europe.[23]

This reality has been clearly expressed in recent days, following the release of a poll indicating that 46% of Muslims would be willing to leave France if Marine Le Pen was to win the presidential election.[24] When asked about this, the candidate replied that Muslims are wrong to worry. “This is their country; they are French, she said. We have only one country,” before adding that “Islam is compatible with the Republic”[25]… Another striking example is that the RN recently broke off its alliance with Germany’s AfD, which it deemed too radical due to its advocacy of remigration. Jean-Philippe Tanguy, a frail gay man who serves as the RN’s spokesperson despite a very pronounced lisp (which speaks volumes about the quality of the party’s leadership), even declared himself “terrified” of the AfD.[26] Regarding the October 17 riots, Marine Le Pen issued a statement in which immigration is barely mentioned, illustrating the importance she attaches to this issue.[27]

Only one party dared to publicly denounce the obvious: Reconquête (“Reconquest”). On the evening of October 18, its president, Éric Zemmour, made the rounds on television talk shows. Advocating for a “French” France (rather than the “appeased” France championed by Le Pen), he denounced the “hordes of Maghrebi and African barbarians” who have flooded into the country, while calling for remigration and a massive crackdown on rioters. His remarks drew cries of outrage from journalists. It is already certain that this outburst will earn him yet another legal conviction, in direct contradiction to the principles of free speech.[28] In fact, Reconquête is the only movement of any significance in France that dares to tackle the issue of migration head-on by proposing radical solutions. It is also the only French party to have sent a delegation to the remigration summits. But its electoral clout is currently negligible. As a candidate in the 2027 presidential election, Éric Zemmour generally polls between 3 and 6% of the vote, far behind Marine Le Pen, who is leading the race with around 35%.

Everyone can see France’s decline. Many are aware of the role immigration plays in this decline. But few are yet willing to face this reality honestly. In the meantime, the country continues its slow drift toward “Lebanonization” and “rivers of blood.”
